Coming to a close. The year is quickly running out of time. It seems that time goes by faster every day as I get older. That long wait between Thanksgiving and Christmas that seemed to last forever when I was kid has sped up to practically overnight. It is odd how it works that way. Time is a very strange thing, and if I think about it too long, it starts to make my mind go a little numb. All I can do is make the best out of right now, because that is all we really have, isn't it?

Christmas morning was good...afternoon was a different story, but I am not stewing on it, so I will just move on, and this will be my only mention of it. The kids had a good time overall. We don't have any plans for the New Year. It is supposed to be quite rainy and wet here this weekend, so we may opt just to stay home.

Today, I am at work, but not for long. Have a little work to do then my assistant and I are taking off and taking pictures. We have no agenda other than taking pictures. I hope we get some interesting ones. I also hope the weather cooperates since the storms are supposed to be moving in today sometime. It may help with pictures having some nice clouds around, but I don't want to be out in the pouring rain taking pictures. I think we may head up to Morro Bay to take some pictures of the boats and ocean and then maybe inland a little bit. I will definitely be posting pictures from that excursion.

Just playing with my camera this day. It was an absolutely gorgeous day in California. I am really out of date with this, but at least had to get these pictures on here.

An updated blog is coming up today.

The baby Jesus Lydia wanted to take home. Posted by Picasa

I am not sure how I did it, but I only managed to get one picture up of the many I had selected. I am pretty green at this so bear with me.

Tonight Lydia has her Christmas Program at school. She is excited about it. I think all they are doing is singing on stage, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I will be taking pictures. We had to get her a new dress for the event. It took us forever to find one. All the nice Christmas dresses were already gone when I went looking for one. Of course, I did wait until the last minute, so mostly it was my fault. The only ones that seemed to be left were the ugly pink and black dresses the looked like they were from old time west houses of ill repute! I cannot even believe someone designed those dresses for little girls of 5!

We did manage to get our Christmas tree up over the weekend. It looks pretty nice. The kids were more than eager to help with the decorating, so it took more time (and patience) than usual to get the tree done. It was a fun time though. I also got the kids a nativity set they can play with. Gotta love Fisher*Price toys. They kept wanting to play with my porcelain set, which wasn't a great choice. I distincly remember last year, the little boy shepards head rolling across the floor after having a collision with a monster truck. LOL. I had a spare of that one for whatever reason. Hopefully this weekend we will get the rest of the decorations up. Things have just been way too busy to get to everything I need to get done. So goes life, I suppose.

Piffle - that is the word of the day. Definition: n. nonsense, babble, twadle: interj. a contemptuous exclamation.

I am sure I will be adding this word to my vocabulary. As a matter of fact, I think Piffle works with me. She comes in and stays for 20 minutes, usually when I am most busy, and stays spouting piffle of which I have no interest. Ahhhh, the crosses we must bear. Honestly, she is a very nice lady, but her mind is akin to a seive.

I took the kids out looking at Christmas lights a couple nights ago. Dad didn't go because he was out of town for a week training and update. We had a blast. We, of course, had Christmas music playing on the CD player. It was sufficiently cold enough to believe it is winter, though we never get any snow here, or even close for that matter. Roo was all about the lights, and Lyd's only quest was to find the baby Jesus. She liked the lights and all, but she would quickly ask, "can we go find baby Jesus now?". It was pretty cute. When we did find a nativity scene she burst out with joy and insisted we go look at him. Of course, being a 5 year old girl and baby Jesus being a doll, she wanted to take him home. It was a hard push for her to walk away from the most precious doll of all. LOL. Roo kept telling me that, "this is the best night ever!" A grand time was had by all. I did take a couple pictures with the camera, but have managed to screw up my computer trying to upgrade it. So, now I have that to fix. Hopefully I can get that done this weekend.

Peace

Yes, today is indeed the first day of the rest of my life. At the prompting of a friend (and she won) I decided to creat a blog along with half a million others out there. I am not certain what direction this blog will head, but by all accounts it will go somewhere. More than likely though, it will end up in circles. As for the title, I am not great, nor am I Italian, so it works perfeclty.

I just bought a new digital camera, so this blog is apt to be picture laiden from time to time. I love to take photos, but don't take them as often as I should. I really like my film camera (Nikon) but also like the instant gratification digital photography allows. I have two children and they will be featured heavily through photos and their antics in life. They are a 5 year old girl, and a 4 year old boy, and I really can't imagine life without them. Well...perhaps sometimes without them, but just for a short while. Seriously, could you resist those faces for long?

We just had a little crisis at work. I am chemistry lab director at a community college. We just had several students come to the secretary stating that their instructor had been in class for 15 minutes completely disoriented and not starting class at all. He just sat their going through his notes which he couldn't find etc. Well, the students know this instructor and know this is very much out of the norm for him. We called public safety and they checked him out and he seemed okay, but we are still keeping an eye on him.

Welcome to blogging! I went to post this and the system encountered a fatal error. Whoa, maybe I should have selected my host a little more carefully. Anyway, they did have a saved version that I only had to update a little bit!
