Way over, over, over due

I had great ambitions of trying to catch up on the blog and going over everything within the past month and a half. Dumb idea. It isn't going to happen other than a few quick snippets here and there.

First off, San Antonio was excellent but cold. Wind was up and whipped through your body like daggers of ice. Brad graduated honors from boot camp and was doing great. He is now in Sheppard AFB also in TX but in Wichita Falls. He was able to come home for Christmas and he spent Christmas eve and Day at my house. He really wanted to see the kids open up their Christmas presents. Christmas was awesome! Best one I have had since having kids. Brad was very eager to watch Roo open the present which had BDU's (camouflaged air force clothes). I had picked up a complete set Roo's size when I was back there, which included a hat. Roo has always wanted camouflaged so I thought he would be undressing before he was even finished opening the package. Well, he was finally opening the package and we were all excited. He got it opened and was checking them out, but there were no squeals of delight as expected. Instead, he held the clothes cautiously in his hands. We asked (enthusiatically) for him to try them on. He looked at us very soberly with a concerned expression, "...but, I don't want to go to Texas..." He thought we were signing him up I guess! He was very concerned that we were shipping him out! LOL. He had definitely identified those clothes with being sent off to the Air Force! It was pretty cute.

New years was low key...I stayed up until midnight, but I was the only one in my house that did. Someone a few blocks over put on a spectacular aerial fireworks display about 11:00. Totally illegal here, mind you but it was their ticket, not mine. I just enjoyed the views. Kids and hubby slept through it all.

The new year brought interviews to 0ur house. My husband had one with the City of Santa Maria. He did well and got his letter yesterday informing him that he passed the first part of the interview and that if he is selected for the second half, he will be notified within the next two weeks. We shall see what happens. I had a job interview at our local community college, Allan Hancock. The interview itself was a piece of cake. I answered all their questions concisely and accurately and elaborated on others. Since I have been doing this same basic job at the college where I work now I had a very long list of questions for them. I caught them off guard with some of my questions. It was kind of funny being the interviewee and stumping the committee. It was good for them I think. Now, after the interview I have a lot to think about. I don't think I will take the job if offered. It is the job I do now, plus also doing the lab tech jobs for physics, geology, and in the summer biology as well. There is one older instructor who expects to be catered to and is a flake. He changes labs all the time at the last minute and that is more stress than I need. I don't want to be bottom rung on the ladder and a whipping girl all at the same time. Forget it. All that for less pay! It does good points though. It is local and is only 5-6 miles from house as opposed to the 45 I drive one way now. It has better benefits and I would be home sooner in the day. With all this in mind, I still think about the position, but I don't want the hassle and stress of being the tech for all the disciplines. Of course, all this is pending if they even if they offer me the job.

Classes start next week. I am not ready for them, but will be by the time they roll around. I need to get off the computer and into the labs though. Motivation hasn't been my strong suit this week. But, I can only procrastinate so much and then it will be too much to do in a short amount of time. I will get all the lab prep stuff done today.

Not much else to report right now. Or, actually I could write on and on and on, but I do need to get to work, but I at least had to get something up on the blog.
